365 polish for a year challenge: day 135

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! oh this is my favorite holiday ever! I wanted to try to use my orange crackle with my Halloween NYC polish. I think it came out beautiful! It reminds me of an old tree with the bark cracking over time with the orange shimmer of the crackle just making it so spooky!

Brand: NYC
Name: Haunted
coats: 3
pigment: a simple black polish with medium gold and silver glitter
price: $1.99

Here is the base color. A simple black with some glitter floating glitters. This color is perfect for this time of year

Trying to show off the glitter in the polish. It looks like a mix of gold and silver

BOO! Yes here is my spooky finished look. I was worried the orange wasn't going to be bright enough against the black, but I'm glad it made this look come alive!

This is a Pure Ice crackle called Crushed. I picked this color up on clearance at Walgreens, I think it was around $.99-1.99 on clearance (can't remember!) I can't wait to show this spooky manicure off too! Everyone be safe on this wonderful holiday and get lots of candy!!!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 130-134

Hey everyone! Sorry for the leave but there was a family emergency. No major details other than I'm back! And I'm ready to make up my 4 missed days up to you in 1 major post! I hope you enjoy!

Brand: Loreal
Name:High Tide
coats: 2
pigment: a light blue with a white shimmer undertone
price: $2.00
I found a few bottles of Loreal polish at my local Job Lots and picked up 4 out of 6 colors they had. This is one of them. I've noticed they got rid of the square brush handles, so they keep popping up at discount retailers, and well I really don't mind!
Looking at this color I should have hit it with one more coat, it goes on a bit thin but becomes more opaque with the 2nd coat. Something drew me to this color, so creamy with that shimmer I just couldn't resist!

Brand:Loreal
Name: Coral Starfish
coats: 3
pigment: a simple sparkle orange
price: $2.00

Another one of the colors I discovered on my trip to Job Lots. This polish did apply very thin, but has a beautiful medium orange tone with orange and yellow sparkles.
I think this was from an old summer collection that came out, not sure but the name suggests that it is.
I took one of my crafting scissors and put it diagonally across my nails and hit it with Sally Hansen's Oxblood to mix the deep red with the fresh orange color
I really like how this look came out, the Oxblood did stain my skin a little but I think I'll live ;D

Brand:Wet N' Wild
Name: Deadly Does
coats: 2
pigment: a metallic copperish gold
price: $.99 (on sale)
This color is from WNW's Halloween polish collection from this year. I was VERY lucky to find all colors at my store while they were on sale for $.99 each!
This color is beautiful. It looks gold and copper all at once. The metallic reflection in this color is just beautiful.
I did an ombre look with Sally Hansen's Oxblood (can you tell I like that color?) I think the fading effect looks awesome with a tone of purple in between the two fading colors. My only compliant is that for some reason a lot of air bubbles formed on the nail and them have an odd bumpy texture even after putting on some topcoat to smooth the design out.

Does matter, this manicure came out so beautiful with the color combination, I don't mind the bubbles

Brand: Sally Hansen
Name: Black Platinum
coats: 3
pigment: a metallic black, I wanna call it gun metal
price: $.95 (clearance and coupon)
Oh yes, we all know that this line went on clearance at Walgreens (not sure about other retailers) but I hopped on this sale! I think I ended up picking up like 6 bottles I want to say. This color caught my eye, a beautiful deep gun metal black with a grayish shimmer
This color is deep, dark and mysterious. It went on extremely sheer on the first coat (worried a bit about that) but then by the 3rd coat I had full coverage. I know they're going to improve the formula for this line, I just hope they improve the price as well. $8.99 a bottle (where I live) was a bit to much, on occasion it would go on sale for like 2/$10 but still more than I like to spend. I'll be keeping a look out at my local Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Job Lots and Ocean State to  possibly find more colors of the "old" formula at a more reasonable price.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 128

I was feeling this deep gray-ish blue color today. It's been sitting around for a few weeks calling at me. I had to put it on my nails today. It's such a deep gray sky blue, so beautiful and gloomy. Perfect for this time of year with the season slowly changing into a darker and colder (soon to be) winter.

Brand: Sally Hansen
Name: Gray By Gray
coats: 2
pigment: a deep and gray toned blue
price: $.95 (clearance and coupon)

I found this beauty on a clearance endcap in my store. It was marked for $4 something, but got it for the clearance price of $2.49 plus a coupon and discount.
I had to file my nails down again to try to make them as even as I could. I wanted to do something extra with this color, but I just ended up keeping it simple.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 127

A very quick post with today's manicure with a simple metallic red. I had a very busy day so my post will be very short due to me being super tired.

Brand:NYC
Name:Broadway Burgundy Red
coats: 2
pigment: a deep metallic reflected red
price: $.99

I slapped this on my nails in a bit in a rush to make this post

I've had this polish for some time, so it has thickened up. I put 2 coats on just to get full coverage.
In other aggravating news, I chipped 2 nails at work the other day...so you might be seeing more right hand manicures...oh I'm a righty too :\

365 polish for a year challenge: day 126

I wanted a bright color today. Something that stood out, but not to the point of being neon. Oddly enough I reached for Milani's NEON line, and was happy to see that it dried a bit darker than the color looks like on the bottle. It also dried more blue than teal, and I'm ok with that. I also wanted to play around with my stamping plates again. My only problem I ran into was when I put my topcoat on the plate image smeared a bit.

Brand:  Milani
Name: Fresh Teal
coats: 2
pigment: a simple teal leaning more to the blue side
price: $4.99

You can see the difference in the dried polish and the bottle color. It looks blue, but the bottle looks teal. Not really true to color, but still beautiful

I used image plate BM-208 and Ebony Hates Chris from Wet N' Wild to make this unique looking design
I love how it looks, but with the flash on you can see how the top coat make the polish streak down the nail. Under room lighting without flash it looks fine. Reminds me of shattered glass.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 125

So I wanted to try a metallic crackle out again. From what I've tried before it worked half the time. So I did a black base color using Orly Black Vinyl, shook my bottle well and then hit it with the metallic top coat. Now I did make a great effort to apply a thin coat. Now I was happy to see that it worked ! A beautiful mix of black and metallic silver came out so beautiful!

Brand:  Pure Ice
Name: Lightening Strikes
coats: 1
pigment:silver crackle
price: $1.99 (2pc set on clearance)

My silky base color of Black Vinyl
I only have a few colors by Orly, but from what I've used I liked!
This crackle did not let me down! I love watching this polish dry slowly and work it's magic!
I got this polish a while back on clearance in a double pack. I love finding great deals on polish. I love it a bit more when I find a great deal on a beautiful color with a crackle polish to go with it! Pure Ice has been treating me so well!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 124

A quick post with an L.A. Colors polish (that doesn't have a name) that I got in my Halloween set a while back. I thought this color was so beautiful in the bottle, but was a bit shocked to see it dry so much darker than what it looks like in the bottle.

Brand:  L.A. Colors
Name:no name
coats:3
pigment: a deep and rich plum purple
price: $6.99 (6pc set)

a deep rich plum purple is what dries, even if it looks like a hot purple in the bottle

I was really shocked to see this polish dry so dark, and a bit disappointing by the end color. I just left it as, really didn't want to dress this polish up after the color let me down :(

365 polish for a year challenge: day 123

I think I finally have a great fall nail design that i really like! I used a deep sparkle dark green polish from L.A. Colors that I've been wanting to use. I also brought out my stamping kit with a simple leaf design to create a beautiful deep and unique look.

Brand:  L.A. Colors
Name: Cactus
coats: 2
pigment: a deep green with deep golden shimmer
price: $ 1.99

Here is that deep green with golden glitter. I picked this color up on a trip to NYC a little while back

This color is so beautiful under the flash, but also looks great under low light
I added the leaf design from RA-121 plate. I used 3 different metallic colors for the leaves

This is the look without the flash on to try and show of the leaf design. I used Sinful Colors Moss Have (green)  Funky Fingers Monster Ballad (red) and Milani Bridesmaid (gold/silver color) This (to me) captures the look of fall in a simple nail design.  I wish I could get a photo to be a little more clear without the flash on, but that was the best I could take. Starting to get the hang of stamping!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 122

I wanted to try my hand at nail art again. I wanted to try to create some of the characters from The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. So I painted my nails with a gorgeous and smooth medium blue. I let that dry and then took my paint brush and a few different colors to to make up the characters. I must tell you, my favorite one is Pig Pen.

Brand: Loreal
Name: Jet Set To Paris
coats:3
pigment: a medium and creamy blue
price: $ 2.49 (sale and coupon)

Here is the beautiful blue I used today
Part of the London Fall collection (if I do recall) just so gorgeous!
I did a few of the kids trick or treating, one of the witch masks, and an outline of Snoopy in the moonlight looking like the Great Pumpkin! I had fun doing this design, just with I could have got a little more detail in these nails.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 121

So, I can't tell you how long I have had this polish, years I want to say. I wanted to do a dark manicure today so I decided to go with a deep half moon manicure. I used my simple black base color and a deep shimmering burgundy as the alternate color on the manicure. After it dried I think I should have gone with a little bit brighter polish, but it still came out beautiful when it hit the sunlight.

Brand:NYC
Name: Black Lace Creame
coats:  3
pigment:a simple black polish
price: $.99

Simple black. I hit it with a quick dry top coat. I think I bumped into something too...I was a little careless on this park of the manicure.

My old bottle of polish. I want to say it's at least 4years old, and still going strong!

Don't mind my application, I was in a bit of a rush and cleaned my application after the photos (yeah I'm smart like that!)

But this lovely red from Wet N' Wild called Under Your Spell was just so beautiful, and in theory seemed as a beautiful match, but in regular lighting just looked like a deep red manicure. But with a flash or even in the sunlight it looked beautiful!

coats:  2
pigment:a shimmer orange
price: $1.99
