365 polish for a year challenge: day 90

 I finally did a design by one of my favorite nail artist, Robin Moses. Now if you have not watched any of her videos I suggest you go to  Youtube and be prepared to get addicted to her designs and funny attitude.  Here is the link to the video, this look was inspired by the amazingly talented Robin Moses, and I gave it a go. I used a deep green with a matte top coat. The I grabbed some light colors and made my design. I switched it up a bit from hers adding a few different things.

 Here we a have a beautiful dark green polish. Took me two coats to get full coverage.

 This color was on clearance at Five Below for $1.00! I couldn't pass this dark green up, so lovely!

 Atfer letting the polish dry I put my school designs on with hears, xo's, ABC's and some math!

 I also drew a sun, more letters and tick tack toe! I love how this does look like a chalkboard, even if it has been a long time since school. This was so much fun to do and I got to be creative and think of drawing on the chalkboard back in school!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 89

 So my plans for my nails and mini hole punches worked out just as i wanted! I took some bright colored nail polish and painted some tape, let it dry and then punched it with the mini hole punch, put it on my nail and put a clear coat over it! So simple and so cute!

 I wanted a nice deep color for the base color, so I went with this beautiful Sally Hansen color. A deep purple with light purple glitter in it

 This was one of the limited edition colors I got on clearance!

 Here is my little bat hole puncher that I picked up at Wal-Mart for $.97

 And my finished mani! Oh so cute! So of the polish I should have added one more coat of on the tape, but for a first time experiment I think it turned out well!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 88

 My fiancee suggested another crackle look. He said why not try black polish with a white crackle? I changed it up a bit, a metallic black/gray base color with a metallic blue crackle, I think it came out cute! I did try the white crackle on my pinky, but the cracks weren't having the black base color show a lot. So I repainted my nail and went with a bright blue crackle. Also forgive my sloppy application, I took the photos before cleaning, I didn't look close to see if it needed it or not.

 This is one of the WNW colors i found at Job Lots, I think it was from a previous Halloween collection they had out a year or so ago. i must say this color was very thin and a little hard to work with.  

 The color is very beautiful but the formula was very thin and very hard to work with.

 

To help accent this color I used Pure Ice Strike A Pose over the polish. An odd thing happened when I used it. The crackle caused my polish by my cuticles to dry up and and shrink away from my cuticles leaving a rather large gap in between my cuticle and polish.

 

 I like having my polish go down just near the cuticle and not have major gaps between the two. The look came out cute but I had to try and touch up the gap with a little of the blue crackle, so it did cause a bit of a sloppy looking (not cleaned up) application. Oh well, I still love the color combo.

Craft store goodies

So I never really connected nail art to crafting until recently, and well since I've made this connection I've been buying more supplies from craft stores. I must admit it started with the crafting scissors and has increased in supplies and has me thinking of new designs and techniques. Here are my most recent goodies!

 First off is a great find I found at (not a full craft store but sells crafts) Wal-Mart. I was walking around and stumbled upon these mini hole punches for Halloween! These are just what I had in mind, but I couldn't find them at Michael's, Joann's or A.C. Moore. These were located in the scrap booking section of the store (just put up it looks like) for the oh so reasonable price of $.97 each! I have plans on using these for the next few months! They had a total of 4 different hole punches in the shape of a bat, cat, pumpkin and skull.

 On a trip to Michael's I found this 6pc set and passed it up. A few days later I decided I did want it, and scooped it up for the fantastic price of $4.00 with a store coupon! This set has glitter bats, cats, pumpkins and hexagon glitters in orange, black and white.

 Also at Michael's I found a glitter foil leaf 12pc set on sale for $15.00 . I was going to buy this set online, but after a quick look on my phone I quickly found this was the most reasonable price (no need for shipping) with the set ranging from $15-$25 not even calculating the shipping in.

 Again Michael's was having a sale for half off of the bead cases that I turned into my new glitter cases. I took all my loose glitters from their bottles or container and put them in stack-able plastic holders. 

I bought 2 containers that were $4.49 each with a sale going on last week. I'm glad I grabbed 2 of them because it was just enough to fit all of my loose glitters.

And this is my first glitter container I bought a few weeks back. I wanted to pick up more of these, but then figured the stack-able containers made more sense and took up less room and seem friendlier if I need to bring them with me.

I can't wait to start using some of my new goodies! Do you use craft accessories to finish up your nail art? Any suggestions? I'm really looking forward to using the hole punchers! All this glitter too, so excited! I hope you all enjoyed my haul, see you with an update later today!

So I got inspired by water, yes water. I was watching tv that was showing a commercial about water and really liked the contrast of white to blue it kept showing. So I gave it a try, I used a beautiful deep blue and a mix of pearl and rhinestone nail art deco to give this mani some texture

 I was happy how this color came out. When I picked it up I was a bit hesitant to get it. But now I see how beautiful this color is and don't regret the purchase at all

 Here are my water nails! I had the pearls and rhinestones side swipe up my nail. I used dark blue to light blue and into white. This look was very easy, but took a bit of time to put down all those pearls and rhinestones one by one!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 86

 I was feeling something sweet, so I went with a crackle cotton candy look. I used a very beautiful blue I picked up in Vermont a little while back. I was a little shocked to see how thin this color went on, took me 3 coats to get close to full coverage. I wasn't going to worry about the pigment because I would have crackle on top of this color.

 This is 3 coats, and it is still a bit on the sheer side

 The color looks so beautiful in the bottle, but fell a bit short on the nails

 I dug up this pink crackle from Pure Ice called Hot Couture. It works so well and makes both colors pop

 I almost added sparkles to it, even thought about a matte coat but I just added a top coat and left it at that. It's so cute and so bright! I've been loving my different colored crackles!
