Maybelline Color Show Street Art (Street Chic) matte glitters

Good afternoon everyone! Hope your weekend has been fun and full of snow! Well, I know my has been. We got about 8 inches of snow down here in Boston from last nights storm. Well enough about snow, let me get onto nail polish! I was at my local CVS last week, and discovered some new matte glitter polishes by Maybelline. They had five colors including a deep blue, light blue, red, green and a light pink. I picked up four of the five polishes (I'm not that big into pink)
Now this line seems to be a new addition of the polka dot collections that came out a while back (clearly spotted is one of my favorite polishes!) I did some quick swatches over Sally Hansen Wet Cement, to have all the colors over a neutral color.
The polish spread very well, and had a good mix of big and small glitter bits, some bar glitters and a good mix of black glitters mixed in with each color. They also dried very quickly and smoothly as well. I don't know if this is limited edition or not, but I hope there are permanent colors. I've been enjoying the new trend of matte glitter top coats!
Ok, now onto the photos of the bottles and swatches.

Ohhh just look at those colors. I am in love with these matte glitters!
names left to right:
Nighttime Noise
Green Graffiti
Wild At Heart
Blue Beats

 Blue Beats over Wet Cement

Wild At Heart over Wet Cement

 Green Graffiti over Wet Cement

 Nighttime Noise over Wet Cement

The full photo of the swatches side by side. I really like all of these colors. I suggest picking these up if you stumble into them. Beautiful bright colors, great even coverage and unique mix of matte glitters.

Fun winter nail snowflake stamping design

Hello everyone! I've been playing around with some of my stamping plates to try and get a fun and festive look going for this winter and holiday season. I'd like to share my latest design with you.

First I started off with one of my favorite greens out there. Loreal's Hyde Park is a beautiful warm green that tends to dry a little darker than the color in the bottle. I used three coats and a top coat to start this look off.

I used Bundle Monster plate BM-H02 with the snowflake design. This is Bundle Monster's holiday plate set. It comes with a bunch of wonderful designs for every holiday and celebrations.

After letting my nails dry, I applied Pure Ice Silver Star to my nail plates and stamped with wonderful design. I love how well the silver shows up on this color, and also looks like shiny snowflakes as well. I think this combination works very well together.
Thanks for stopping by! See you next post!

365 polish for a year challenge: day 360-365

We are finally here! My last five looks to finish up doing a year of polish! I still have a ton more to try out too! I think I'll keep this blog up, but not an every day thing. I must admit it got a bit overwhelming at times. I am going to take some time off for my wedding and honeymoon from the blog. But while away you know I'm going to be looking for new nail polish out there!
My final five looks (now seeing them) have a lot of yellow, three of them to be correct. Ok, here we go!

Brand: Jordana
Name: Mellow Yellow
coats: 3
pigment: a simple yellow
price: $1.99
This bottle has been hanging around for a while, and I finally gave in and used this lovely color. I put a layer of white under to make the color look a bit brighter.

Brand:Ulta
Name: Limelight
coats: 3
pigment: a medium green
price: $2.00 (on sale)

I was a little disappointed with this color. It just seemed so thin and really didn't dry with a lot of shine. I was a bit upset because I've had great results with other Ulta polishes. Maybe it was just a different formula. The color is beautiful in the bottle, but very thin when applied.

Brand: Funky Fingers
Name: Like Clockwork
coats: 3
pigment: a bright neon orange
price:3/ $5.00

Oh, hello bright ass neon! This color looks a bit on the yellow side, and it looks that way in real life. I grabbed this bad boy up a few weeks ago feeling the neons of summer calling me. I used a base of white polish to help this color pop a bit more. I had great results with this polish, a must have for summer.

Brand: Sinful Colors
Name: Secret Admirer
coats: 2
pigment: a black polish with small silver glitter
price: $1.99

I picked this color up a longgggg time ago. I can't even tell you when. I can tell you I was super surprised with how much I love this polish! I was worried that it would dry bumpy and grainy, but instead it was shiny, smooth and glossy.

I wanted to add a bit of color to this beautiful polish. I grabbed one of my favorite plate patterns and some Sally Hansen Insta-dri Brisk Blue and came up with this look. A lot of people said I should have done yellow and added a bee, but I am perfectly fine with the way this came out.

Brand:Fresh Paint
Name: Alex's Lemonade
coats: 2
pigment: a pale yellow
price:3/ $5.00
One last yellow, I swear. This is the scented polish that I picked up in my last haul. It smelled so awesome, seriously I couldn't stop smelling my nails! It was a smooth application with a pleasant scent instead of the normal polish scent I'm use to.
I took my nails and turned them into a bit of Wonder Bread nails. I hit them with blue, red and orange dots near the cuticles. I thought the look was playful and simple.

Thank you everyone that has commented, followed, and like my nail adventures on here and my social media. I hope I can dedicate more time to it after the wedding!

Overdue Haul! Makeup and polish

Oh I had a very fun filled weekend! Hanging out with one of my friends, got my eyebrows threaded for the first time, and stopping into Ulta and Five Below! I just wanted to share the goodies I picked up this weekend.

I hit the NYX area very hard. I have come to know and adore this line of cosmetics due to my love of watching drag queens. NYX use to sponsor Ru Paul's Drag Race a few seasons ago. If it wasn't for that show I wouldn't know about this makeup line. After getting my brows threaded, I decided to get a new eyebrow product other than the pencils I have been using.
I was going to go the way of powder, but I wanted to cut my brow time down. Well I stumbled upon an eyebrow marker! I used it today, and it was so quick, clean and has lasted all day EVEN with me touching my brows...I'm hooked!
Also Picked up a new waterproof soft eyeliner pencil. I wore it today with ok results. It was hot and I did sweat, and I noticed it did run a lil under my eye. I will try it again tomorrow and see how well it works. I also picked up a skinny black liner to attempt a sexy cateye.
And last and probably my most looked for product is Essence nail art stampy set! I have been looking for this thing for a good five months! I finally got one with a cute stamping plate, new stamper and scraper. I can't wait to use it!

I also picked up nine new bottles of polish from Five Below! I remember seeing their line of neons last year, but I only picked up the purples and blues. I saw the orange, greens and yellows and well scooped them up. I also got some beautiful polishes from Fresh Paint as well! I will give props to my friend for getting these for me, since I covered her brows. Great trade if you ask me!
Hope everyone enjoyed this short and simple haul.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 357-360

Oh wow, we are getting very close. I am only 5 polish colors away from doing a full year of nails! Also getting down to the wire for my wedding! I'm very nervous, excited and anxious for that day! But now we are onto polish. I will do another haul post following this one, so stay tuned!

Brand:Pure Ice
Name: Last Chance
coats: 2
pigment: a deep purple
price: $1.98
Oh I love this purple. It was super super glossy when it dried. A lovely deep and creamy polish with great coverage in just two coats. I can't say enough about Pure Ice, they have totally stepped up their color selection and I am enjoying it!

I did hit the polish with a matte top coat to bring out the glitter a bit more. I used Confetti's Dragonfly (limited edition release!) to add a bit of attitude to this polish. It looked amazing under standard lighting. The flash in the photo does this glitter no justice!

Brand: Funky Fingers
Name: Elephunk
coats: 3
pigment: a light glitter gray
price:3/ $5.00

I had this polish lying around for some time, sitting on the shelf for a good mani. Well I was hit with inspiration from my Tokidoki calendar for the month of June. It had a mix of gray, pink and black for a color scheme. So I decided to use this semi glittery gray as a base color.

I then painted hald the nail a litght pink (Over The Rainbow also by Funky Fingers) and let that dry. After I used a fun and 80's like mixed triangle nail stamp to add more attitude to this mani. I was more than happy with the results!

Brand: Milani
Name:White On The Spot
coats: 2
pigment: a simple white
price: $3.98
One of my coworkers asked me to do a mani she saw online, so I tried it. I hit my nails with a white base color. Fast drying polish by Milani is the best...well all except for the price :P

Here is the end result! Everything was done freehand with a striper brush. I really like how to tips came out...I'm kinda sad that my anchor turned pink! I think the blue polish bled into it somehow.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 346-349

Hello everyone! Oh man I have had a very busy weekend! We are almost a month away from the wedding! We have booked our Honeymoon to Vegas and then Puerto Rico!!! Two weeks of fun and sleeping in! Been making some finishing touches on plans, and we are just about ready to go! Also we are getting very close to the one year mark! Well enough chit chat, onto the polish!

Brand: NYC
Name: Traffic Jam Orange
coats: 2
pigment: a bright orange
price: $1.99

This polish came out this year with the spring collection if I do recall. I'm not a big fan of orange (as you all should know) but this shade was really nice. Not overly bright, but not very muted. Smooth and beautiful coverage.

Brand:Pure Ice
Name: Bikini
coats: 3
pigment: a iced purple-blue
price: $1.97

A polish with a purple undertone. But under the flash you can see that it is a blue toned polish.  Smooth coverage, but a bit on the thin side.

Brand: Sally Hansen
Name: Chartreuse Chase
coats: 3
pigment: a light metallic green
price: $1.00

oh, no wonder this Insta-dri polish was in a Dollar Tree, horrible coverage! The color is like a muted metallic green, and is very lack luster. A thin formula with a very weak pigment. Glad I didn't spend the usual $3-4 on a bottle, yuck this was a disappointing polish.

Brand: Sinful Colors
Name: Nude
coats: 3
pigment: a skin tone polish
price: $1.99
I saw this color a few months back on one of my favorite blogs and had to go out and get it. A very beautiful nude color with a nice creamy finish and very lovely pigment. You really can't go wrong with SC polish, and this color is just beautiful.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 341-345

Good evening everyone! Just got back from a free screening for the Hangover 3! I had a blast and enjoyed the movie a lot! Well I am keeping this simple and sweet, nothing new to share other than the movie!

Brand:ELF
Name:Punk Purple
coats: 2
pigment: a deep plum purple
price: $10.00/ 14pc set
This deep and rich plum purple is so beautiful. A glossy and creamy finish with just two coats to apply.

Brand: Milani
Name: Tainted In Red
coats: 2
pigment: a red textured polish
price:free (prize)

Trying out this textured polish is really turning me off from the trend. If i didn't get this set for free, I don't think I would have picked it up. I don't know, I'm just not blown away with the application and thin polish with this color.

Brand:  Venique
Name: I'm A Sucker For Wedges
coats: 3
pigment: a neon pink
price:free (prize)
Hello neon pink! With the flash it does wash out near my cuticles, indicating that I was very light handed in those areas. But the overall look is so bright and eye popping! I'm glad neons are coming back for the warmer weather, I love wearing them!

Brand: Fresh Paint
Name: Pistachio
coats: 3
pigment: a pastel green
price:3/$5.00
I forgot I grabbed this polish a while ago. It's so simple and such a creamy green. I stopped at three, but I think it could have used one more. Other than the polish being a bit on the thin side I enjoyed the color very much!

Brand: Wet N' Wild
Name: Root Of All Evil
coats: 2
pigment: a deep metallic blue
price: $.99 (sale)

I've had this polish since last Halloween when I grabbed the whole seasonal line of polish on sale. This polish had great coverage with two coats, and a wonderful metallic shine.

365 polish for a year challenge: day 336-340

Good evening everyone! Making a very quick and sweet post before I rush off to the movie theater to go see the new Star Trek movie!

Brand: Pure Ice
Name: Free Spirit
coats: 3
pigment: a medium green with white shimmer
price: $1.98

So I forgot to take a photo of the green polish by itself (oops) But you can see it fine with Black Tie Optional over it. This is a beautiful and creamy green with a delightful white shimmer in it. I wanted to add a little more spunk to this mani, and well this combo just looks adorable.

Brand: NYC
Name: Raindrop
coats: 3
pigment: a pastel blue
price: $1.97

A polish from their 2013 Spring collection. Beautiful pastel blue with a smooth finish. Forgive the photo, I did not clean up my edges before taking it. I left this look plain and simple because the color was so beautiful on a bright sunny day ^_^

Brand: Dollarnailart.com
Name:  Candlelight
coats: n/a
pigment: metallic gold stripe nail foil
price: $1.00

How could I forget how fun nail foils are?!?!? I saw this look in a magazine (I forget what one) and well I had to go for it myself. This dazzling gold stripe foil is beautiful on it's own! But I wanted to see how it looked with a glossy black polish over it.
Here is the finished look with the shimmering foil with the glossy polish over the foil. I love this half moon mani! I need to do this look with more foils! Took a steady hand, but it was totally worth it.

Brand:Pure Ice
Name: Kissy Kiss
coats: 3
pigment: a pastel periwinkle
price: $1.98
This is such an adorable color! It is on the line of pastel and light purple. I got full coverage with 3 coats. As always Pure Ice delivers a beautiful polish again.

Hello everyone! Another late Sunday update for you! Gonna keep this one simple and sweet.

 Brand: Barielle
Name:  Central Park
coats: 3
pigment: a medium teal
price: $7.99/ 5pc set
A beautiful medium teal that looks very green in this photo. I almost want to call it a green.
To bring it alive I did an ombre with a bright green at the tips. This color combo worked out very well.
Brand: Sinful Colors
Name: Innocent
coats: 3
pigment: a light yet still bright green
price: $1.99
What can I say, green is my favorite color. I went for this SC green that I've had hanging around for a while. It was much brighter than I thought it would be, and I like it!
Brand: Color Club
Name: N/A
coats: 3
pigment: a light and creamy purple
price: $7.99/ 5pc set
A delightful and creamy lavender polish with a smooth and glossy finish.
Brand:Petites Color Fever
Name: Creame Blue
coats: 3
pigment: light grayish blue
price: $.79 (clearance)
This color was more gray in person without the flash. But still the color is very beautiful either way.

Brand:Barielle
Name: The Pink Of Fashion
coats: 3
pigment: a medium creamy pink
price: $7.99/ 5pc set
A pepto pink! Yes, I called it that! This color looks like it belongs in a bottle in my medicine cabinet.  It has a beautiful and creamy finish and went on with 3 coats.
